Two debutants on the Mazda stand, both concepts which showcase the company's low-emissions strategy for its next generation of cars.
The SkyActiv technology they incorporate includes all-new and lighter platforms, more efficient engines and low-friction transmissions that will appear across the Mazda range by 2015. The aim is to provide levels of economy and low CO2 emissions currently only available with petrol/electric hybrid drivelines. The Minagi is a svelte crossover-style family vehicle that it almost ready for production - it goes on sale next year, and should deliver up to 65mpg with relatively low CO2 emissions. The Shinari is a four-door coupe. Squint closely, and you might be able to guess the styling of the next generation Mazda6, which is scheduled for launch in late 2012/early 2013.
