Nissan 2012 Leaf Gets More Equipments And A Price Hike

If you are thinking of buying the 2012 Nissan Leaf, then you will have to pay a bit extra than the previous year’s price. The base 2012 Nissan Leaf SV has a starting price of $36,050, which clearly is $2,420 more than the price of 2011 model, even though the price of the Chevrolet Volt was cut down. But despite the cut down in the price of the Volt, the 2012 Chevrolet Volt is around $4,000 pricier than the Leaf.
The up-level 2012 Nissan Leaf SL has starting price of $38,100, which is $3,530 more than the same model in 2011, announced Nissan on Tuesday announcing the prices for the car. Nissan has also deleted the Leaf SL-e model for this model year. Last year, that model was priced at $34,570 and was also an important part of the federal EV (electric-vehicle) project in the course of a special Department of Energy grant of US. The 2012 Nissan Leaf will be entering the dealers this fall.
The base 2011 Nissan Leaf SV will be having a starting price of $33,630, counting an $850 objective charge. The 2012 Nissan Leaf basically is a carry over model
General Motors proclaimed in mid-June that they will cut the price of Chevrolet Volt by $1,005. The 2012 Chevrolet Volt has starting price of $39,995, together with an $850 objective charge. The low price for the car was attained by trimming the car by content. Speaking on the price hike for the 2012 Nissan Leaf, the Nissan spokesperson said “The Company is not looking at the alleged rivalry of the car with Chevrolet Volt. The price hike for the leaf has been done because the customers were asking for additional features in the car, and our decision is based on the customer feedback.”
The price hike for the 2012 Nissan Leaf easily could be attributed to the conventional equipments in the car including the likes of cold-weather features and fast charging. The cold-weather features in the car comprise of a heated steering wheel, battery warmer and heated seats both in rear and front.
Nissan will also be making the DC Fast Charge capability standard on the 2012 Nissan Leaf SL. Zachary said that SL so far has accounted for 95 percent of the sales of Leaf and that 90 % of the customers prefer the quick charger.
On Tuesday, Nissan also proclaimed that they will be pulling forward the launch of Nissan Leaf in Illinois currently, as an alternative of the last stage of the Nissan Leaf launch in late 2012, as initially planned. The Leaf launch for the customers in Florida, Alabama, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, Mississippi, Virginia, Washington D.C and South Carolina will start on 25th of July, reported Nissan in a declaration. On the other hand the nationwide rollout of the Chevrolet Volt has already begun.
